At present, there are many researches and applications on flame retardant polypropylene, but the common flame retardant systems on the market are nothing more than the following four categories:

The choice of the above common flame retardant systems mainly depends on the customer's requirements for flame retardant grades and shrinkage rates.
If customers have glow wire test requirements, most of them choose (2) and (3) systems, because almost all Intumescent Flame Retardant systems have the characteristics of high glow wire;
If the customer has halogen restriction requirements, the same choice of (2) and (3) systems, sometimes adding a small amount of (4) system to the homopolymeric PP can also meet the customer's requirements for low bromine content;
If the customer has requirements for filling, (1) calcium carbonate in the system has a certain influence on flame retardancy, and the more talc and barium sulfate are added, the better the flame retardancy; (2) calcium carbonate cannot be added to the system. filler. The addition of calcium carbonate will destroy the carbon density and have a greater impact on the flame retardancy. Talc and barium sulfate can be added in small amounts. Of course, wollastonite can also be added; (3) In the system, a certain proportion of glass fiber or wollastonite can be added.
